Having inspected the Bevel Wheels and Pinions, G-1909, and G-1908, made for us by the Gleason Works, Rochester, I wish to report the following condition of same. I have lettered these gears A,B,C,D,E, and F, so that they may be distinguished in Derby.

BEVEL WHEELS

A, Hole has not cleaned up in grinding by .0015, the unfinished section extending about 1/4 around circumference. ( See sketch #1)
B, Web ground .010 too thin, ( .437-2 dimensions).
C, Same as "B".
D, O.K.
E, O.K.
F, Hole not quite cleaned up in grinding, but not serious.

PINIONS

A, O.K. #
B, .020 short on length of teeth ( 1.500 dimension.) Also .010 short on 2.816 dimension before grinding. # (2.816 dimension equals length of hub)
C, O.K. #
D, O.K. #
E, O.K. #
F, O.K. #

# - All pinions have been machined in error, as shown in Sketch #2.

The matter of the above conditions was taken up with Mr. Olley and according to his instructions I accepted all 6 pairs.
