REF. SHE/JF

27th. July 1937

Messrs Rolls Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Sirs,

With reference to your letter of the 16th. instant, and our Mr. Edge's visit to your works on that date, we have now prepared our wooden model, and this has been sent forward for the attention of Mr. Martindale.

A diagram of the brake layout we propose is enclosed herewith. We think that our proposition will offer a saving in weight over the complete brake equipment as it stands at the moment, and we think it rather important that our suggestion for the positioning of the Servo Unit in relation to the pedal and brake linkage should be adopted.

The efforts which we estimate that this Servo will transmit are shown on the charts enclosed. We suggest that the pedal when made should have alternative holes and also that the links where indicated on our layout should be made with alternative holes. We are also preparing an alternative drilling of Servo lever whereby change in the 'knee-point' of the curve can be effected. With these alternatives available, we have no doubt that it will be possible for you to arrive at a satisfactory braking.

Kindly let us know when you have offered up the wooden model in position, and should any discussion be deemed advisable in respect to the charts of efforts, we are at your service.

Yours faithfully,
CLAYTON DEWANDRE CO., LTD.
