To Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} from EFC. X266575 EFC/T16.8.28. 3 B.H.P. D.C. MOTOR & REGULATOR FOR EXPL. DEPT. I return herewith the two letters dated 25th and 27th July from The Crypto Electrical Co., from which we have extracted portions as given on further sheet attached, this giving the specification of the apparatus actually required. We should be pleased if you would put this apparatus on order for the Expl. Dept. In regard to the suggested control board, we have under consideration the extension of the three-wire supply from the Electrical Laboratory to various points in the Expl. Dept. at which variable speed motor operation is required, and it is probable that we shall require to arrange the control board not in the comparatively simple manner previously indicated, but with the substitution of triple pole switch and three-line fuses in place of double pole switch and two-line fuses, and [text crossed out] the addition of a double pole changeover switch and field discharge resistance in the manner indicated on the attached blueprint, which gives the connections of the experimental motor switchboard we have already in use. This arrangement enables us to give from our laboratory reduced or increased voltages for supply to the armature for specially low or high speeds, and gives greater flexibility in the motor speeds obtainable without "sloppiness". I will let you know further of our more exact requirements in this direction. EFC. | ||
