-3- Comparison of Independent Suspension Weights. Total Weight of Front Suspension. Phantom II Conventional 232 lbs. Phantom III Independent 280 lbs. Independent R.R. system 20% heavier than conventional on Phantom. 20/25 HP. Conventional 171 lbs. Packard 120 Independent 173 lbs. * Independent American 1½% heavier than 20/25 conventional. * Packard use cast-iron shock absorbers for costs sake. About seven pounds could therefore legitimately be deducted from the Packard figure if applied to R.R. car. 20/25 HP. Conventional 171 lbs. Wraith Independent 262 lbs. Wraith independent suspension 52% heavier than conventional it replaces. Estimated figure for Wraith torsion 160 lbs. bar suspension Torsion bar might be 6% lighter than conventional and therefore about the same better than the Packard. | ||
