x4698 Exptl. Dept. Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Les.14/KW. 18th January, 1934. The Packless Gland Co. Ltd., Windmill Road, Sunbury, Middlesex. For the attention of Mr. Martin-Hurst. Dear Sirs, We telegraphed to you this morning, asking you to dispatch 2 Bellows units F.85395 made with your No.6 Bellows. Our Order Office will send you an official order for 6 of these Bellows units to be made with No. 6 Bellows. We were hoping by telegraphing that you would be able to dispatch the 2 out of the 6 the same night. If this has proved impossible it is of the utmost importance that the bellows should be in our works first thing Saturday morning. The last 2 Bellows you urged for us to F.85875 were fitted and tested within an hour of arriving at the Works. They are now running on the road. We were very grateful that you were able to urge them. We are continually experiencing variation in load range with our shock dampers. From your letter dated 17th inst. it appears to be due to difference in the effective diameter of the bellows. The limits which you quote as being necessary with No. 4 and 8 bellows caused damper load variations of 12% and 17% respectively. If bellows cannot be produced to a greater accuracy we shall have to try to avoid using them in our design. Cont'd. {John DeLooze - Company Secretary} | ||
