-4- heavy demand is made on the battery, for instance, where much night running is done. Where it is a frequent occurrence for the car to be parked for long periods in the dark, small consumption side lamp bulbs should be used, e.g. BAS.10, 12/14 volts 6 watts only, or preferably bulbs of 4 watts only. Where a suitable direct current supply is available we recommend that it be made a rule to leave the battery on charge at trickle rate (about half an ampere) when the car is in the garage, as such a procedure will assist in keeping the battery in a thoroughly good condition. If the supply be alternating, a small capacity combined transformer metal rectifier is especially suitable for this purpose. Care should be taken that the charging circuit be electrically sound and properly protected by a fuse. For full instructions concerning charging of the battery from a power source either on or off the car, refer to the battery makers pamphlet inserted at the end of this book. | ||
