"JACKALL" JACKING SYSTEM.

We have carried out tests as far as possible on the above system which is fitted to 20.EX.

At first we experienced trouble with the pressure flexes, which either burst or leaked at the joints. This was overcome by the fitting of "Lockheed" flexes, which have so far proved very satisfactory.

The car was jacked up on a 1 in 8 gradient and severely rocked, but without ill effect to the jacking system.

We then left the car jacked up for 52 hrs. to test for loss of pressure, which proved negligible. After one hour standing the car had dropped approximately .062, and for the remainder of the time no loss was recorded.

Messrs. Smith & Sons state that they find the majority of these Jacking systems have an initial drop of .062", the pressure then being maintained.

At present we are awaiting a pair of 2 stage front jacks complete with re-designed brackets from the Makers. We are also making new type brackets for the rear Jacks, these will have a similar axle fitting to the present D.W.S. bracket.

The reason for the 2 stage front Jacks is to replace the present single lift type which cannot be sufficiently concealed and which have to protrude through the front apron. Should these front jacks prove satisfactory we should like to have a complete system fitted to one of our London cars for trial.
