To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From A.B.R. Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre France. 4/12/30. Re Chassis 18-9-IV. As you will see on the Daily Report the teeth on the bronze gear wheel of the blade shaft of the Windscreen Wiper have failed. We can now only use the wiper as a hand wiper. The action of the wiper has been very erratic up to the time of the breakdown and also very slow. Its speed can be improved by fitting an earth return. I should be obliged if you could supply us with a new one or else another gear wheel. I have been unable to obtain Ford E Oil in Chateauroux, so I am writing to Paris. The petrol consumption on the first half days running of the car was 10.86 M.P.G. but we have been able to improve this by attention to carburation jet setting etc, and it has now settled down to 13.94 M.P.G. We are checking the setting of the torque reaction dampers and will report on the subject to-morrow. The axle is developing heavy both forward and retard at all speeds. A.B.R. [Handwritten note:] Copy instructed to dispatch a replacement direct from Luvres to Chateauroux. 6/12/30 | ||
