7th June 1921.

Messrs The Rolls-Royce Co.,
DERBY.

Dear Sirs,

We beg to introduce to your notice a metal which has exceptional qualities. Monel Metal has the strength of Steel and is immune from rust and acid corrosion troubles.

In order to demonstrate this fact we are posting, under separate cover, a dome forging which was made and polished over 18 months ago. It has been exposed to various atmospheric conditions and has never been repolished in any way since.

We would feel obliged if after you have examined the dome you would kindly return same to us.

The adoption of Monel Metal in place of Mild Steel in parts which require to be both strong and attractive in appearance such as nuts, bolts, round bar for pins, brake levers, etc. would no doubt be a decided improvement.

Monel Metal name-plates are now being used largely with complete success and also Monel gauze for petrol and paraffin strainers has been found to be both stronger and more lasting than other metals.

It may also be of interest to you to know that the largest Car manufacturers are now using Monel Metal for the Spray Valve Needle of the Carburetter. As you know the slightest amount of corrosion will cause leakage and put the carburetter out of commision. Monel Metal is the most suitable because of its resistance to corrosion and for the fact that it retains a smooth polished surface. These qualities enable the Monel Metal Needle to maintain the leak-proof joint and explain why practically all the largest manufacturers use Monel for Needle Valves.

We would be pleased to supply you with a sample and any further particulars on Monel upon receipt of your request.

Enclosed please also find copy of our Booklet on Monel Metal.
