We have now ascertained, however, that the winding is not like this, but that every coil in the lower winding is in series with the corresponding coil in the upper winding in such a manner that every compound coil consists of two turns, or four conductors in series. Each conductor consists of a flexible strand of nine round wires in parallel. As regards the field winding of the C.A.V. motor, the four coils are, as stated in our previous report, two in series and two in parallel. With regard to the R R.{Sir Henry Royce} starter motor with the 45 slot armature and the field coils two in series and two in parallel we have made a brake test of this on 12 volts, but have not, at the moment, reduced the observations. We will inform Mr. Royce of the results as soon as they are to hand. MADE AT CROXLEY EFC. | ||
