- 3 - (8) Stronger Brake Toggles. ------------------------- It is believed that these are already on production, if not they should go on "D" Series. (9) Propeller Shaft Damper. ------------------------ It was agreed that this could go on "D" series but should be used without the spring clutch centre. (10) Integral Balance Weight Crankshaft. ------------------------------------- This is not yet recommended for production (11) Textolite Timing Gears. ------------------------- Not yet ready for production. ----------------------------- 20/25 HP. - 15,000 MILES TEST. ============================== The following points were discussed relative to failures or criticisms in France on 21-G-IV. Rubber Engine Mounting. ----------------------- It was not generally agreed that the collapsing of the rear rubber on the engine mounting could be held directly responsible for the increase in engine roughness reported after the rubber had collapsed. Experimental Department are to make further investigations to find out exactly what happened. A design has been issued for a rubber which is re-enforced in such a way as to prevent collapse. It was thought that we may have not yet found the correct type of rubber for this particular job. It was agreed that we should get into close touch with manufacturers and put our problem before them. They should then be better able to supply us with rubbers which will stand up under the peculiar conditions of heat and load. This applies not only with reference to the rear engine support rubber but also to the two small buffer rubbers | ||
