Dear Hall, There has been some query with regard to the gearbox of B-35-AE being fitted to B-187-BL. We have pointed out that the special gearbox has a ratio which will not permit of starting on steep gradients, and also that the parts in it have not been standardised, being purely of an experimental nature. Therefore we believe that Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} will want the gearbox and engine unit to be treated in the same manner and returned to us. In view of this we have asked the Works to keep the gearbox and unit of B-35-AE together ready for re-fitting to the chassis. I meant to have discussed this matter with you when you were last at Derby but omitted to do so. We can however talk the matter over when we see you on the 27th. Obviously if we keep the gearbox the question of payment for the work involved will have to be reviewed. Messrs. Offord's foreman came up to-day and we showed him the streamlined car. He wanted to do some work on your competition body, but we pointed out that we could not permit him to come into the Experimental Shop. | ||
