RR 238 (300 Bks.) (SF 152. 6-11-18.) MP 197880 X. 4079. ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. INSTRUCTIONS. To: E F C. Order No: P.B. 90 Customer's No: X 4079 Date: April 9th 1923. Reliability of Coil 4TG3 In connection with the decision to loan this coil to the test house, providing it proved to be reliable enough, in place of 3TG3 which we require for testing, it has been given a test for reliability. It was run for a total of 18 hours on about eight volts. Regular sparking was obtained at the commencement on 5.7mm gaps, but these had to be gradually reduced to 5.0mm. It is quite probable that with anything like continual use on the car, the coil would get very much worse. We could, however, let them have our B coil, or a 40/50 coil, for the short time we should require their 3TG3 coil. Signed: C.H.P. This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work.
