1260 TO Mr. Vickers (Foundry) at Glasgow Factory. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}2/JH.24.11.39. Patterns. Further to your last conversation with Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} re the position of patterns for the cast iron 6 and 8 cylinder engines. We understand that you intended to look over the patterns at Shardlow (where they are now stored) The idea being to add a little more light to Mr. Knaggs reply to our memo. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/MH.{M. Huckerby}25.9.39. and clarify the position regarding just which patterns were suitable to make certain engines. If the patterns for the aluminium '8' engine were sent to Glasgow, could you possibly produce a few castings, when you are on top of your part of the job? If so, we would be able to get some very useful information towards a possible post war programme on the chassis side. We would be very obliged if you could give this proposition some consideration, and let us know how we stand with this job. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} | ||
