Dear Vandervell,

I am hearing through various channels that you are telling people that it is not worth trying A.C.9 big-end bearings because the material is not reliable.

This information is the more disturbing because some of it is first-hand.

I can hardly believe that you are intentionally running down our bearing material in view of the fact that we have always endeavoured to be quite fair to your product when discussing with other people, and I believe we have also given you a good deal of useful information with regard to lubrication, etc.

I shall be at Earls Court on Thursday and will try and find you with the object of talking over this matter. I feel that I would like to see your side of the picture before drawing any definite conclusions.

Yours sincerely,
