Bailey - Chief Engineer} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} โ ORIGINAL Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/LG25. 2. 27. X8040 Y4112 MAGNESIUM PISTONS. We are running a Phantom car fitted with magnesium pedestal pistons which contain 4% of copper. The comparative weight of complete pistons, rings and pins are as follows :- Standard 1.70 lbs. Magnesium 1.28 lbs. The engine they are fitted to is exceptionally smooth at high speeds and with the throttle shut. How much this is due to the pistons, is being investigated.
