Bentley Single Cylinder Tests.

We have been running a 9 to 1 compression ratio Bentley head with a view to developing it for competition work. We attach a drawing of this head. Its advantage as far as we are concerned is that it enables one to do a great deal of trepanning round the valves and still retain the standard compression ratio.

We suggest that you should get some single cylinder castings made up to this drawing, only with enough metal left on the bottom face to give about a 6½ to 1 compression, you can then do any amount of machining inside the head and adjust the compression ratio by machining of the bottom face.
