Phantom III Rear Roll Rod and Shock Absorber Connecting Link.

We send you herewith LeC 4995 showing a rubber bearing connecting link to the rear roll rod and shock absorber of Phantom III, very similar to the one we have already sent you for the front roll rod.

We have taken the opportunity of simplifying the design of the spring 'U' bolt pad making this now a simple forging which is not handed.

We have shown a large and a small diameter connecting tube for the roll rod link, and we suggest that the small diameter one be tried first, and the larger one only used if it is found essential.

As in the case of the design for the front roll rod the hardness of the rubber and the amount of compression will have to be determined by experiment, and we suggest that we start off with rubber of durometer No.70 for both the front roll rod and rear roll rod and the shock absorbers, the rubbers being left amply long so that they may be cut off.

The levers we have shown can be made from existing forgings by merely milling the small end bosses and modifying the set in the lever.

As provisionally stated, not only is this of interest on Phantom III in as much as it cheapens the design and does away with many of the chassis lubrication pipes, but it is also of interest in connection with Wraith II.
