Dec. 4th, 1911. STEERING. 93rd. Meeting. Re. balance of tyres. Mr. Nadin submitted a letter from the Dunlop Tyre Co. dated Dec. 22nd. concerning the balance of tyres. The gist of their letter was that they were not in a position to guarantee their tyres to a certain specified number of ounces as suggested and they considered that their tyres were more accurately balanced than any other make, and further that they did not recommend the valve to be placed opposite to the joint in the inner tube, owing to the difficulty of fitting new valves in that position; if we insisted on this, we should have to specify our requirements for the season. The Committee agreed that the Dunlop Tyre Co. had not tackled the question seriously, and that the objection stated was not a valid one. Mr. Nadin informed the committee that the Michelin Tyre Co. had also stated that their tyres were better/balanced than those of any other firm. He had not yet received any communication from the Continental Co. The Committee agreed that we were not likely to progress in the matter of tyre balance unless some pressure was brought to bear upon the Tyre Companies. ------------------ | ||
