R.{Sir Henry Royce} FROM DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} C. to BJ. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL X8390 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}3/M21.1.28. SPORTS PHANTOM FRONT AFT STAY R4/M17.1.28. We will incorporate these suggestions on the next bodies. We used a horizontal stay which necessitated 3 bolts to get it on to the frame because we thought a bent stay would not perhaps be approved of. We would like to have used a taper tube, but this would have delayed these first cars considerably, and would have been more expensive in itself, and its fittings.
