FROM BA/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} ORIGINAL TA/LV1/26.10.32. C. to Mr. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X1775 P. 2. CHASSIS PRINTS. We have carefully gone over the whole print problem with a view to simplification as the result of the abolition of the body subframe. P. 2. 'C', 'D' & 'E' TYPE. These chassis should be served by one print, a chassis print corresponding to the one issued for flexible bodies, with the following modifications, indicated on an old print herewith: (1) Delete rear wheel and shew grid, adding a note that F.{Mr Friese} so-and-so shews a design of rear apron. (2) Shew height of top of rear floor. (3) Give dimensions to 3rd. and 4th. crossmembers and their diameters. (4) Shew quarter scale section through rear universal joint, and give the dimensions of clearances and the foremost position of any fixed rear heelboard. (5) Shew section of side hinge of bonnet (full size.) (6) Section of side levers (1/8th. scale.). (7) Shew step under side spare wheel cut off short as we never have short wings, also delete the runningboard. (8) Leave note referring to L D 4765. showing alternative arrangement of spare wheels at rear to let it be seen that we have such a carrier if needed. P. 2. 'F' TYPE STEERING. This should be the same as the chassis print for the other steerings with the following exceptions, besides normal special features: (1) Two wheels at the rear should be shown dotted, as an alternative to two at the side, and a note added. (2) The extra wing stay should be indicated as being available when rear spare wheels are fitted. (3) The centreline of the propeller shaft on bump should be given and dimensioned, to determine its slope and diameter, to enable wells for feet to be made clear of it. (4) The silencer shield should be shown, and its depth dimensioned. (5) A rear seat should be dotted in, corresponding to the body, 3" longer than originally designed, and also the wells for the feet. (1) | ||
