Re Extra Oil Valve and Starting up Engine.

Na{Mr Nadin}/S. 19-2-14.

In reply to your memo Na{Mr Nadin}/S23/LG17214 re the above we give below Mr Hives remarks:-

"I do not agree about depressing the
"extra oil valve for 3 & 4 mins. whilst
"the engine is warming up so as to reduce
"the tendency of seizing, we are admitting
"a weakness. All the other makes of cars
"we have ever had we have never nursed them
"like we expect drivers to nurse ours and
"we have never had one seize.
"Supposing it is put in the book whoever
"imagines the average chauffeur will stand
"patiently holding the oil valve down until
"the engine is warm, would we expect even
"our own testers and drivers to do it.
"Also it does not say whether this treatment
"is to be repeated every time the car is
"started supposing it has stood for one hour
"in the street. I consider the first two
"lines at present in the book is enough."
