- 3 - Material and labour of framework £13. 18. 0. Panelling - material and labour £28. 0. 0. Hanging doors etc. 2. 10. 0. ----------- £44. 8. 0. =========== The sale price of the shell, with profits and overheads is now just under £90, and by the use of the new press etc. this would drop to £70, if the quantities were put up from 50 to 250. Whilst a lot has been done to production build the shell, little or nothing has been done to reduce the cost of the trimming and painting. This is largely due to the trading conditions with ourselves, which prevent any sort of continuity of process. A very material gain could be effected by the following, even with existing quantities :- (1). Constant number of chassis per week. (2). No delay in receipt of trimming instructions. (3). No alterations in order of delivery. A further big saving would result in :- (1). Standard trimmings and finishes, say 12. (2). Increased quantities.
