-2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}21/EW.9.6.36. The specification of the governor which was prepared by Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. was obtained as follows. In order to obtain a range of 20° crank angle a Bentley type of governor frame was used which is designed to give this range. In conjunction, a standard 25/30 H.P. governor spring (E.52107) was used and weakened off in such a manner to just return the weights, the figure between the spring and pieces being given as 130", the governor starting at 500 engine r.p.m. It is absolutely essential that the centre actuating shaft be perfectly free, otherwise the governor is useless for the job it has to do. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. is to give a report concerning the comparison of the R.R. with the Delco governor with regard to their consistency in production in keeping to a given advance line. As carried out on the 25/30 HP. we are as soon as possible going to carry out tests on the Bentley unit. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/.I.R.Swindall. | ||
