Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} ORIGINAL Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/An2/LGS.3.3.26. X235 18520 SHOCK DAMPERS. We have found a packing composed of asbestos and graphite which is very much better than felt. We subjected this packing under the spring loaded gland to a test of double the severity of that mentioned in our last report i.e: 20 minutes at 40 lbs/sq.in. pressure without obtaining any leak.
