re Cams FW.1428 - M.22517. ex Adamant Eng.Co.
Marles Type Steering.

The first six cams of above piece number have been inspected and we find the width of the key in the bore to be .005" under drawing size.

This trouble has occurred on both PH.lll and 25/30 Cams, and to avoid scrapping these we have allotted special piece numbers.

It is very disappointing to have to start doing this on the first delivery of a new cam, therefore we should like Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/AW., to report strongly to Messrs. Adamant.

Will BY/NS.{Norman Scott}, consider a new piece number for these six cams or would it be preferable to alter our drawings to suit the .005" small key, if so, I doubt if the Adamant Co., will keep to the limit, and my experience prompts me to say that we should fare better if we retained the present piece number and issue a new number, to give the Adamant Co., two chances.

Will Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/AW., ascertain if they intend to try and maintain the present drawing size.
