SHOCK ABSORBERS.

We understand that you wish to increase the poundage on the rear shock absorbers of a trials car in a similar manner to those at present running on the open cream car. The standard rear poundage is 80 up, 85 down. To alter the poundage to 100 up, 105 down either the washer under each valve cap should be replaced by one .045 thinner as demonstrated in the attached print, or alternatively, should the washer under the valve cap be of insufficient thickness to permit of this alteration one of the attached steel washers should be placed above the spring. The steel washers attached are only used in the case of earlier Phantom II dampers where the aluminium cap washers do not allow of sufficient range being obtained.

N.B.

A set of aluminium adjusting washers should be sent to Cricklewood so that they can vary the loads as required. A Depot Sheet has been circulated containing this information.
