SPORTS PHANTOM ENGINE. X.8774 X.8771 X.8830

Results not good enough: we must do better before going into production. How?

We must lighten and simplify the car, especially the body. A 17 tooth axle is absolutely necessary. Reduce windage - not much possible perhaps. Use thin oil, (Shell super, sperm).

Valves - lighten inlet valves and increase springs for 3000 revs., test with oscillagraph.

Heavy acceleration - should be 60 divisions duration, as aero engine.

Work for 110 BMEP. at 3000 = 176 BHP. Must have at least 150 BHP

Increase clutch stop brake. (DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/HDY{William Hardy} sending particulars).

Fill up engine better - say with Stromberg carburetter.

The car must have :-

CAST DASH. ?

STEERING - new box, larger worm, .9 pitch, (N.Sch.2431).

LOUVRED BONNET.

DO OVER 90 MPH., and London traffic on top.

The body should not exceed 7 cwts. The shape is very good. It is only necessary to construct it strong and light. This weight should include windscreen, cushion wings, steps, lamps, and provision for carrying spare wheel.

It must have EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}'s tail design, finishing in horizontal plate, which should be registered.

Concealed hood should be provided.

Revised seatings should be standardised : makes body better shape.

It will be OK. for Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to be here on Wednesday next, the 14th.
