EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} from Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Hotel De L'ouest, Laval, Mayenne. 8-Goshawk-II. April 1st.1922. Our Comments. On March 30th. we covered 351 miles, and at night after the run we put oil in gear box and axle box, about 1 pint in each. We also adjusted the foot-brake by means of the turnbuckle on the pedal pull rod while we had the floor-boards up we also put a spot of oil on each of the brake countershaft bearings, also on the pedal shaft. Latest design embodies external lubrication to pedal shaft. EnotS lubricators. On March 31st. we did 328 miles over roads which were very heavy and wet for the greater part of the distance. During this run we had to stop to again clean out the petrol filter on the carburetter making the 4th. time in 2000 miles. Have suggested petrol system (including tank and filter) thoroughly cleaned out and fresh start We also had to clean out the carburetter as it was flooding due to dirt. The fan belt was also tightened up. We also observed the water level in radiator and started out with water 4" from the top of the filler cap. During the day this went down to 4 1/2" although no boiling occurred. The level was left at this and today at midday the level was down to 5" from the top of cap. The car is going very well but the foot-brake squeaks and is not consistent in its working. As regards the timing wheels, these have run in quieter and have are quite good as regards silence. | ||
