STARTER MAIN SWITCH ON ALL CHASSIS. We have received complaints that condensation sometimes occurs inside this switch which causes a certain amount of corrosion to occur. Although we have never experienced this trouble we consider it is possible in view of the fact that the switch is not ventilated, and after using the starter a lot on a refractory engine during cold weather, the heat generated in the switch coils might be sufficient to cause condensation. We see no reason therefore why a small .062" hole should not be drilled each side of the cover to ventilate the switch and we recommend that this be done on production.
