Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}6/MH.{M. Huckerby}2.1.39. 50. B.V. CHASSIS. Further to the specification for the above units to be released for production, will you please include the following:- (1) Raised crown Aerolite pistons in accordance with the attached drawing P.452. These give with .030 Klingerit gasket (Ex.1933) a compression ratio of 6.0 : 1. (2) "General" filter as standardised on Wraith to be included. (3) Include push rods with deeper spheres ECD.1096. This to prevent recurrence of push rod dropping out of adjusting screw sphere in event of valve sticking or spring failure as experienced on 8.B.V. (4) In addition to holding up the dynamo drive will you also hold up the camwheel. We had to release the heavy inertia camwheel on Wraith as there was no flexible dynamo coupling available. We now have the Metalastik coupling which is very flexible, and it is possible that with it we shall be able to revert to the light camwheel. Tests are proceeding and a decision will shortly be made.
