ORIGINAL. TO EFC. FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} SECRET. E1/M3.7.24. Copy to BY E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C. X9620 STARTER MOTOR. Regarding the question which was raised concerning the insulation on the tab connections of the coil and teazer field windings of the EAC. motor please note these tab connections should be retained as shown on drawing LeC. 1770., and the insulation should be carried out by locally encasing the coil where the tab occurs with a piece of press phan or other suitable material, as in sketch:- The press phan should be wider than the tab so that its ends can be secured under the tape The extra thickness occasioned by fitting this covering is accommodated by the fact that the connections alternate on the 2 windings of any pole.
