To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Higher Compression 20/25. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}2/E26.11.34
Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}
Thanks for Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}8/KW.24.11.34. It is quite correct that I omitted to say anything in the Notes about higher compression or lower gear.
Before doing anything, I really want to see the report dealing with Hancock's visit. If as the result Paris are still dissatisfied with the performance of 20/25's, it may be advisable to do something about the higher compression and it would help me to know what increase we would propose, what testing of it has been done and whether the change is one which could easily be made in Paris; also what benefit would be obtained, i.e. what increase in performance.
