relatively small dia. pins, rubber crank damper, splash lubrication, very light flywheel, side valves & long stroke for the bore. It is exceptionally smooth in the Car and equals our 1934 25 H.P. R.R power output per c.c. Hudsons will be the first to admit that they have obtained this result by spending money freely on developpement & testing and it should urge us to push on with our single cylinder units and other research.
We ourselves can quickly find out how well this unit will stand up on the road. I met an Englishman who had done 25000 on last years model with no trouble; Hudsons output is <strikethrough>now reaching</strikethrough> 1000 a week, it would break them if their cars would not stand wide open throttle running on American highways for reasonable periods at any rate.
③ This is not saying that the six is as smooth as the eight, at higher specific outputs the difference would <strikethrough>undoubtedly</strikethrough> probably show up in favour of the eight much more than with 5.75 c/R.{Sir Henry Royce} Again these two engines i.e. the 8 & the 6 have the same bore,
