To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. c. to C. c. to H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} c. to M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} X. 646 EFC4/T10.4.19. X.664 - BATTERIES. We have received further samples of lighting and starting batteries as follows:- One Tudor Type C.L.G.9 60 ampere hour rated capacity (ebonite cells). One Tudor type C.L.G.7. 45 ampere hour rated capacity (ebonite cells). One Peto & Radford type 45 ampere hour rated capacity (ebonite cells). X646 FULLER BATTERIES. As stated in our previous battery report EFC4/T21.3.19., we received from the Fuller Accumulator Company, two type SQ12/4B 53 ampere hour rated capacity batteries, each made up of six ebonite cells in a wooden containing case to sketch plan arrangement already given in that report. Weight of this battery 73 lbs. complete as delivered. These Fuller batteries are very poor and the worst we have received; they both suffer from leaks. The filling was very difficult and the bubbling over during charging very bad, also acid gets between the two main terminals and the heat produced by the current across the acid from one terminals to the other softens the pitch on the top of the battery. These have not been very good for capacity either, so that we are not bothering any further with batteries of the Fuller make. TUDOR BATTERIES.
