AIR SILENCERS. On account of the difficulty of fitting the standard Bentley silencer on Bentley lll due to its projection into the dash, we have considered what could be suggested to give us a more convenient arrangement, and herewith are two proposals E.CD.516 and E.CD.530. No doubt there are others which could be considered and these two are susceptible to modifications in dimensions, which can only be determined by trial. We suggest that they may form a basis for investigation. We do not think any detailing is required yet, as no doubt Experimental will make them up from the scheme in the most convenient way. E.CD.516 shows a single silencer compartment, with two outlets arranged so that the flow of air in the air inlet pipes is not reversed. E.CD.530 shows a double silencer compartment, each bank of three cylinders having its own silencer. In both cases the silencers are arranged for two S.U. carburetters.
