4009 D/BP/Y16/JR.{Mr James Royce} 21st August, 1939. The Secretary, Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall, London, S.W.1. Dear Sir, Re: Chassis 14.B.V - I.M. Waller. Carnet No. 289619 was surrendered at Newhaven on the 16th instant as per your representatives Receipt No. 3199. The above car met with an accident in France, and the body (which was of French origin and on which British Import Duty has been paid), was left in France to be repaired by the Makers. The chassis only has been returned to this Country, and when we have effected the repairs it will be sent back to France for the body to be re-fitted. In the circumstances we shall require you to re-issue Carnet No. 289619, and as you have already returned the Bank Guarantee, we will of course, furnish you with another one. The brief history related above was conveyed to your Port Officer, and we presume has been passed on to you. Yours faithfully, For & on behalf of Rolls-Royce Ltd., pp. John DeLooze, Secretary. | ||
