261. To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} c. to HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}25/JH.5.1.37. R.6.B.R. Bentley Unit. The above engine which was removed from a customers car B-47-HM{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} on account of a big end seizure after 7,000 miles was sent from Kingsbury for Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'s inspection. This having been carried out, we are returning the above unit for your own re-assembly as a production unit. Both the main bearings and the big ends especially appear to have been short of oil, also a piece of foreign matter was found across the relief valve seat which would cause loss of pressure. A complete report is being issued by HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/Hollingworth on the condition of the engine. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} | ||
