-5- We are therefore fitting up for test, an experimental exhaust manifold similar to Phantom II with the exhaust down pipe increased to 1.750 dia. Comparing the power curve of the standard Chine engine with the modified engine shewn on Print V.734, we see that below 1000 R.P.M. the former engine shews a slight advantage. We hope to alter this by means of the camshaft and suitable - a little earlier - timing, even if we have to sacrifice a little at the maximum speed. When we have completed these experiments - which we should be done in a few days - we intend to put this engine in a car so as to compare its performance with the standard 20 H.P. Appended are prints showing the experimental modification made for the above tests. V.716. 73. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/ACL. | ||
