To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} X5800 c. to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/LGS.10.28. HEADLAMPS. X7800 We are standardising the Lucas P.100 single point lamp. We think that this is a very excellent lamp both for lighting and for mechanical strength. It is also very easy to change a bulb. We do not like the RB{R. Bowen}-160 style of lamp for the 20 HP. The outer casing is so light and flexible that a sharp blow on the top of the lamp will dislodge the whole front which, complete with glass, falls out. Changing a bulb would be a most awkward proposition at night because as soon as the front of the lamp is removed in the normal manner, the reflector is also loosened and it is not an easy matter to remove the bulb or to re-erect the lamp. If we are going to make any alteration to the 20 HP. lamp we should favour an exact replica of the P.100 type in a smaller size.
