RE; ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. In weighing up the possibilities in buying our electrical equipment from an outside source, it is evident that we might find ourselves in an unfavourable set of conditions with no available means of escape if we burnt our boats by closing down our Electrical Department. We can, and should avoid this being possible until we are at least sure of the quality of the units, this can be done by continuing to make our RR. equipment as heretofore, but by buying units for Bentley lll and Bentley 50 outlined in BY/RD.1/B.4.1.38. as follows:- (a). Bentley lll. Ignition by Delco. Starter Motor - Lucas. Dynamo, - Rolls-Royce. Wiring - Lucas Harness. Footswitch - Lucas. Junction Box - Lucas. Ammeter - Lucas. (b). Bentley 50. Ignition - Delco. Starter Motor - Lucas. Dynamo - belt driven. Lucas. Wiring - Lucas. Footswitch - Lucas. Junction Box - Lucas. Ammeter - Lucas. This scheme gives Lucas's an opportunity to prove their ability to produce work good enough for us to rely upon, and at the same time will not endanger our output or reputation as the RR. chassis will not be involved.
