Re. Telecontrol Shock Absorbers.

XP120

We think it is necessary that the position as regards these should be cleared up.

A Standardisation Sheet has been issued for fitting the Telecontrol shock absorbers to the Continental Phantoms in place of the standard Hartfords. The Works however have not been instructed to fit any of these on to the cars and it has been left that they will be fitted where required in London.

The Telecontrol shock absorbers will fit on to the standard brackets which are used for the Hartfords, the controls themselves have to be arranged on the instrument board and can only be done after the body is fitted.

The London Continental Trials Cars we understand have been fitted up in London with Telecontrol shock absorbers without any difficulty.

The policy we should recommend as regards Telecontrol shock absorbers is that our Trials Limousines should be fitted with these in the same way as the Continental car. The question of whether they should be treated as an extra or provided to customers free of charge upon request is a question of policy. We would recommend holding off the complete standardisation of Telecontrol shock absorbers in view of the desirability of adopting our own hydraulic control. We consider, in view of the fact that it has been agreed already to put in hand 25 sets of the hydraulic control, that we ought to be in a position to deliver cars with this in ten to twelve weeks. It should be understood that the hydraulic control can only be fitted on to cars from 126 in 'O'*2 Series and onwards.

The Trial's car 102-MY. would have to have Telecontrol We do not recommend changing the springs on that car.

As regards fitting up a Trials Car with hydraulic control we were hoping to do this on Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s. new car. That car is fitted up with all the necessary parts and we were expecting shortly to complete it. We should like to know whether this car is still available, as we think it would be an excellent idea to have a car in London fitted with this scheme so that it could be compared with the cars which we have running about fitted with telecontrols.
