BR Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} F.J.H. Will you let me know when this is available for inspection? Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} x1023 re WILMOT-BREEDEN FRONT BUMPERS. ------------------------ It now seems clear that the front bumpers fitted to Bentley cars are subject to a fearful amount of stress, particularly on cars running abroad or where road conditions are worse than the average in this country. Apart from several cases already reported by Paris Depot we have now received a complaint from the Owner of B.9-BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} which is running in Belgium, concerning breakage of the main leaf spring half way across. Conditions in Belgium are pretty bad due to the pave roads. We are sending the Owner a complete new bumper and we are getting the old one back for your examination. In the meantime, we think there have been sufficient failures of the various parts comprising this type of bumper to warrant an investigation with a view to preventing these breakages.
