20/25 HP. S.U. Carburetter.

We discussed the troubles in connection with the above very thoroughly at the end of last week with LA.{L. A. Archer} and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/CTS{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}, and we have arranged to develop two lines of improvement, the first suitable for cars already running about and in process of production, and the second a more far reaching alteration embodying all the improvements we know, and involving modifications to patterns.

The major difficulty unquestionably is the equalisation of the float chamber, and we have already issued Lec.4292 showing a modification which can be applied to any carburetter, and which should definitely cure the main fault.

We think a new carburetter needle will be required for this to put the consumption right, and we have asked the Experimental Department to develop one.

In the second scheme we are arranging for the correct equalisation of the float chamber without the use of an external pipe, and we are also embodying the square original cross section of the spray chamber, as well as the reversed throttle motion provided this latter can be fully substantiated. A certain amount of design investigation is required for the second scheme, but this is in hand, and instructions will be issued as soon as possible.
