To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From R.{Sir Henry Royce} (At Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence) c. to CJ. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} R7/M24.3.26. LUBRICATING OILS - WAKEFIELDS 'XL' AND PRICES. ---------------- Regarding the standardisation sheet issued to standardise Wakefields XL. oil as an alternative to Prices'. I feel sure that Price's with its extra fatty oil, (especially if it is comprised of sperm and lard, which are the finest lubricators known) is far the better oil. Also I rather thought Shell Super Light oil contained sperm oil as its compounding oil. If so this will be good, and that we have had at WW. was excellent for both power and wear, so far as I can judge by my small tests. We ought to have a third alternative to recommend to our car owners, and warn them against being spoofed into buying something outside our recommendation. Thank Mr. Adams for me: this subject was always a pet one of mine. I am pleased so much care is still taken. Mr. Ricardo also makes a speciality of testing oils mechanically. He found the advantage of Shell Super Light. Might we ask him to test for us? R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
