DY{F R Danby}/NS.{Norman Scott} c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} H28. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/G.8.6.39. B.5. GEARBOX. Please receive FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}443, shewing modifications to the 2nd. speed synchromesh to equalise the rocking effect on the cam surfaces and jaw clutch teeth with helical serrations. A method of modifying the existing pieces for trial is shewn, and also new parts giving the equivalent of 55° cam angle with straight splines and equal angles of 55° in case the latter is preferred for manufacturing reasons. There is also a suggestion for reducing the effort required for synchromeshing by reducing the depth of the selector rod grooves in the neutral position, which it is desired to try out.
