X5790 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from EFC. EFC/L/T28.4.27. WATFORD ROL. MAGNETO. TIMING TESTS. Herewith we hand to you the sleeve of an R.O.1. magneto. Will you please have the contact breaker end supporting ring moved round in relation to the steel sleeve through 25°, as roughly indicated by the pencil shading on the ring. This shading will disappear under the steel sleeve. At present the two halves of the sleeve are symmetrically placed in relation to the magnet poles in the central position of the advance and retard lever, whereas we wish to try the effect of having these in the symmetrical position approximately in the retarded position of the advance and retard lever. You will remember you carried out a similar alteration on an EO6 sleeve according to an instruction from BY/RD., but in that case the direction in which the ring was moved was opposite to the present, as the rotation was the opposite hand.
