For the attention of S.H.Grylls, Esq.

Dear Sirs,

Confirming the visit of Mr.Smith and the writer to your works on Thursday last in connection with Hydrolift jacks for Bentley cars, we understand that you approve our suggestions for modifying the design to incorporate filters both on the inlet and delivery side of the pump valves, valve seatings providing less seating area for the balls, and a duplicate inlet valve. We think these modifications will overcome the question of foreign matter lodging under the ball valves and we are proceeding immediately to build up the six jacks on order, on these lines.

We shall also build two further jacks to replace those found defective at your works.

These eight jacks will not, however, be fitted with the duplicate inlet valves as a die alteration will be necessary to accommodate these. We are putting the modification in hand, and will adopt the new valves in our standard production.

For your information, the die for the forged chassis connecting bracket is in hand. Will you please let us have your official order to cover this.

We shall be very glad to have your report concerning the suggested test you propose carrying out to ascertain that the Hydrolift jack and bracket are sufficiently strong to hold the car if the handbrake is inadvertently not applied to the car. You will appreciate that we cannot guarantee the jack to be capable of holding the vehicle on an incline as would
