Copy of letter received from:- Messrs. North & Sons Limited., Whippendell Road, Watford. Our ref: CHK/HC.6. 12th January 1927. Your ref: Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}5/NJ10127. Messrs.Rolls-Royce Limited., Derby. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 10th instant, with copies of reports reference WB{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell} 122 of 6/1/27 and WB{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell} 124 of 7/1/27. We have taken further copies of these and are returning your copies as requested. We are quite in agreement with the suggestions regarding oiling in the former report and with regard to the report WB{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell} 124 we regret that we had not stated the method in which the low tension wire should be prepared. This wire should have a sleeve soldered on as shown in the sample we are sending to you under separate cover. The method of fixing is one which is approved by the Air Ministry and we think that if you will be kind enough to test it with a sleeve fitted as in our sample you will find that when the nut is tightened, the tendency to pull the hole in the moveable portion out of line with that in the fixed portion of the clamp gives a very secure grip on the wire, and we trust that the method will meet with your approval. We regret our omission to point out the necessity for soldering a sleeve on the wire and the trouble you have been put to in consequence, but shall be pleased to know if after trying our sample you find the method satisfactory. For and on behalf of .. NORTH & SONS LIMITED., (Sgd) C.W.Kirby. Director. | ||
