To-day Staniland and Wright have both driven the car at my request and confirm my views, Staniland suggesting that I might have further surprises if I tried to drive it on a wet road. Other matters worth attention are as follows :- There appears to be an amazing amount of slack in the transmission and the clutch is fierce. The windscreen wiper installation vibrates and the engine is a little noisy. Engine running is beautifully smooth and the acceleration altogether admirable. I hope you will understand I am not making any official complaint as I presume there has been a complete mistake somewhere or something has gone mechanically wrong with the shock absorber installation. Perhaps you will ring Miss Burns as to when and where the car should be delivered to the firm. Please accept my apologies for troubling you. I thought you would like to know the worst immediately and as soon as the necessary adjustments have been made I shall be delighted to test the car again and hope to give you a much better report. Yours sincerely. (Sd) E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Fairey. P. S. The seating is quite comfortable and the view excellent. There are no body noises other than the windscreen wiper mentioned. | ||
